Triple Tail are commonly found around channel markers, buoys, and jetties, but......in early May these fish show up on the beaches floating on their sides in search of food and to spawn. Triple Tail range in size from 1 pound up to above 20 pounds. You can catch these fish on a variety of live bait as well as artificial. Triple Tail can also be caught on fly tackle. These fish are one of the Captain's favorites to fish for and they are plentiful along the beaches of the Golden Isles. In the photo at right, Captain Scott Owens displays a Triple Tail that was over 20 pounds! As you can tell by the pictures these fish can change colors from black to white and everything in between. These fish are great fun to catch and put up a good fight. Below left, Captain Scott Owens holds up a fish in the 17 pound range that angler Wesley Owens caught on a hot June morning. ![]()
